About CallBail

What is CallBail?

CallBail is an iPhone app that shows a simulated incoming call on your own phone, so you have a natural reason to step away from a meeting, date or conversation that is going nowhere. You decide who appears to be calling and when.

Does CallBail place a real phone call?

No. Nobody is dialed and no carrier is involved. The ringing screen is drawn by the app on your own device. That is also why it cannot call a real person, record anyone, or run up a phone bill.

What can I customize?

You pick the caller name, the photo, the ringtone and the timing. A neutral name like "Alex" or a role like "Office" usually works better than anything dramatic. Exact options may change before launch.

Using fake calls

Will it ring when my iPhone is locked?

We are still testing this and cannot promise more than iOS allows. Apple limits what third-party apps can show on a locked screen. Our iPhone page explains the current plan, and we will update it with confirmed behavior before launch.

Can I set a timer so the call arrives later?

Yes, timing is a core setting. Start the app before you sit down, choose a delay, and put your phone away. The call arrives on its own. If you want a head start, the fake call simulator on this site lets you try the delay idea in a browser.

How do I make the call look believable?

Believability mostly comes from you: a quick glance at the screen, a short "I need to take this," and a clear exit. The screen is our own design, not a copy of the iOS Phone app. Our guide to faking a phone call covers wording, and the guide on leaving an awkward conversation has exit lines that need no call.

Safety and responsible use

Is it okay to use a fake call?

For a polite exit, usually yes. Most people use a pretend call the way they would say "I have to run." It is a small social shortcut that costs nobody anything. Be more careful with people who trust you, such as a partner, and tell the truth when it matters.

What is not allowed?

Do not use CallBail for fraud, harassment, impersonating a real person to cause harm, or deceiving anyone in order to hurt them. Those uses break our Terms, and they are wrong regardless of the app. The rules are spelled out in the terms of use.

Can a fake call replace emergency services?

No. If you are in danger, call 911 in the United States or your local emergency number. A simulated call can help you leave a situation that feels uncomfortable, but it cannot send help. Our safety guide covers discreet exits and what to do next.

Is a fake call from "Mom" the same as a scam call?

No. Scam calls target other people, often by imitating a relative. A CallBail call appears only on your own phone, and nobody else receives anything. You choose the label yourself, such as Mom, and no real person is impersonated. Never use the app to trick someone else or to pressure anyone for money or information.

In an emergency

Call 911 in the United States. A simulated call does not alert anyone. See fake calls and personal safety and our terms of use.

Privacy and technical questions

What data does CallBail collect?

The app is designed to keep your caller names, photos and settings on your device. This website has no forms, ad trackers, embeds or external fonts. The only analytics we plan to use is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is off for now. The privacy policy has the details.

The full details live in the privacy policy.

Availability and pricing

Is CallBail on the App Store yet, and does it work on Android?

Not yet. It is coming soon to the iPhone App Store, and the badge on this site stays inactive until there is a real link. We have no launch date to share. CallBail is being built for iPhone only, with no announced Android or Apple Watch version.

Is CallBail free?

Pricing is not final. Before launch we will say plainly what is free, what costs money and how any subscription works. Until then there is no price to quote, since any number now could change.

Is the browser simulator the same as the app?

No. The browser simulator is a preview of the ringing-screen idea that runs on this page. It does not call anyone and does not replace the app. The iPhone app is a separate product with its own features and limits.
