About CallBail

CallBail is an iPhone app that shows a simulated incoming call on cue, so you have a natural reason to step away from a conversation you want to leave.

What CallBail is

You choose a caller name, an optional photo, a ringtone and a delay. When the timer ends, your phone shows a simulated incoming call. You answer, say a few words, and leave. No real call is placed and nobody is dialed. You can try the idea in your browser with the fake call simulator, or read how the app is designed to work on the iPhone page.

Why it exists

Most people have been stuck in a talk that should have ended ten minutes ago. Saying "I'm going to head out" sounds easy until you are the one saying it. For some people it is a mild annoyance. For others, especially anyone with social anxiety, it is the part of the evening they dread most.

A ringing phone gives you a reason that needs no explanation. We built CallBail for three situations in particular:

  • Polite exits. A dragging meeting, a networking chat or a relative who does not stop. See our guide to leaving an awkward conversation.
  • Social anxiety. A prepared way out can make it easier to go to the event at all.
  • Personal safety. A quiet, believable excuse when a situation feels off. Our page on a fake call for safety covers what it can and cannot do.

How we run the project

Honest marketing

This site does not carry reviews, ratings, user counts or awards, because the app has not launched and we will not invent them. When we describe something, we describe what it is designed to do. If a feature or price is not final, we say so.

Privacy first

The site has no ad trackers, no third-party scripts and no sign-up forms. If we turn on analytics, it will be Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless page counter. The privacy policy lists what is and is not collected, in plain language.

Responsible use

CallBail is for leaving situations gracefully. It is not for fraud, harassment, or tricking someone in order to hurt them, and it must never stand in for emergency services. It cannot guarantee anyone's safety. If you are in danger, call 911 in the US. The terms of use spell out the acceptable-use rules, and the FAQ covers common questions.

Where things stand

CallBail is coming soon to the App Store. It is not available to download yet, and the badge below stays inactive until it is. Until then, the guides and the browser simulator on this site are free to read and use.
